In honor of this month's full moon, I am coming back from my writing hiatus!
It feels good to be back in the Spiritual Sunflower's space for reflection and expansion. In case you're new here, or maybe it's just been a while since you connected with one of my blog posts- I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself and my intentions here.
My name is Erin, also known as the Spiritual Sunflower! I am 23 years old and enjoying every moment in the sunshine state.
Art and creative expression has always been a driving force in my life, which I feel has pushed me to expand my methods of expression from painting, to writing, to content creation, wire wrapping, and many other crafts and even using flow toys. I believe that art is meant to be shared, discussed, valued, and adored by many.
This is why my intention as an artist and creator is simply to spread love and positivity, and encourage the collective's growth. The Spiritual Sunflower's blog is a safe space for me (Erin) to share reflections, tools, and knowledge I have gained along my journey in hopes of leaving a positive mark on the world around me.
It is also a safe place for YOU to share your reflections, reach out with questions or your own stories to share, and for us to connect on a deeper level. Yes, we can talk and you can learn a lot about me on Facebook and Instagram, but we are going to get a lot more vulnerable and honest here.
Thank you for being a part of this journey.
And happy full moon in Libra!
I have personally always felt an especially deep and magical connection with the full moon. Maybe it's something to do with how big, bright, and complete the moon looks in the sky (exactly how I aim to be), or the silly, weird, maybe even transformational synchronicities that tend to happen at this time of the month.
The full moon signifies the completion of a cycle - the end of a lunar month. This makes it an especially powerful time of the month for reflecting and releasing. Some questions to ask yourself during a full moon might include:
- How am I feeling in my life right now?
- What positive habits or routines am I building? Are there any negative patterns or routines I can let go of right now?
- Am I living in alignment with my values, my dreams, and my happiness? How can I be in more alignment in the coming lunar cycle?
- What things am I manifesting or working towards in my life right now? What can I do moving forward to be on better track for these things to become reality?
- How can I better take care of myself?
- What am I grateful for right now?
You might want to write these questions down and spend some time answering them in your journal. Let the answers flow freely and honestly, without judging yourself. Know that everything you feel and everything you are moving through is valid. Checking in with yourself is the first step to understanding how you can continue forward on the path of your dreams!
The next full moon ritual I want to share with you is the practice of writing things down that you want to release, or let go of. For this full moon, I wrote down a list of things that I think not only myself, but the collective community, might want to release too.
Things to Let Go of Right Now
- worrying about what has happened in the past
- the need to be in control of everything
- the idea of having a "perfect life"
- clothing I haven't worn in over a year
- placing my partner or people I love on an unrealistic pedestal
- going small when I can go BIG
- fear of failure
- procrastinating important things
- dependency on social media
- my comfort zone
- lazy habits that are holding me back
- guilt and anger over the past
- trying to make everyone around me happy
- old things I can donate or sell for cash
- overindulging in unhealthy habits
- jealousy
- possessions that don't bring me joy
- fear of the unknown
- comparing myself to other people
Are you letting go of any of these things with me?
If you'd like to deepen your practice of releasing, I recommend not only just writing these things down in your journal, but also completely burning the piece of paper! Make sure you burn the paper in a safe place such as a fire proof container or outside.
By burning this paper containing these things you want to let go of, you are taking a small but significant action to show the universe how much they are no longer going to be a part of your reality!
At first I had a bit of an attachment to the pages in my journals and didn't want to burn them, but I realized that I have no reason to look back on these things.
Instead, flip to a fresh page, and write about what you want to CALL IN to your life, in place of these things you are letting go of.
You'll have all this extra time, energy, and space in your life once you get rid of what's holding you back! So you must decide, what do you want instead?
Dive into this as much as you need to, but don't overwhelm yourself. We're just taking things one lunar cycle at a time over here.
Remember that you are loved, you matter, and you are valued.
Thank you for joining me in this month's full moon ritual and re-awakening of the Spiritual Sunflower blog!
