For Artists, Creatives, and Dreamers
Here are five stones to reignite your creative spark, promote inspiration, and keep your imagination going.
Written by Erin Daugherty
Calling in all creative beings and artists to this blog post today. Let’s talk about some of the best crystals to work with in order to promote inspiration, courage, creative flow, and self expression!
Just like herbs and plants can heal us in different ways, so can crystals. You may choose to work with crystals for a variety of reasons, but attracting the energy you desire more of in life is probably one of the most frequent. Not only are crystals beautiful, healing and uplifting– they are valuable tools to support you in embodying the person you dream of becoming.
The energy we are going to focus on attracting more through partnering with crystals includes creativity, inspiration, courage, flow, and authentic self expression.
Many crystals can support us in multiple areas of our lives, so if you have worked with one of these in a different way, that’s totally okay. We can also develop our own personal relationships with crystals that might be different than others have developed. Overall, there are many common themes for the healing properties of any single crystal. Today we will be focusing on just a select few.
One: Citrine
Citrine is a pale to golden yellow or honey colored quartz variety, known for its positive energy and support for creativity and self expression. Often mined from Brazil, Argentina, France, Spain, and Scotland, citrine sparks joy and attracts all forms of abundance for those who choose to partner with it.
Sometimes called the “success stone,” citrine promotes good luck in all endeavors that bring inspiration, optimism, and imagination. The bright and positive energy of citrine pushes away darkness, opening space for creative self expression to fully emerge, and for your light to shine.
Citrine truly embodies the energy of the sun and clears away any shadows preventing you from embodying your light along with it. Creatives frequently work with citrine in meditations and rituals for help with discovering new inspirations, connecting more deeply with their “why” for creating, and staying motivated to continue creating.
Carry citrine daily with you daily to attract its energies, or place it by your workspace where you create to remind you of your inspirations and continue to spark creativity through clearing creative blocks.
Two: Carnelian
Carnelian is a popular stone for creatives due to its strong energies of confidence and courage. To anyone looking for more confidence to share their work with the world - carnelian is the crystal for you!
Carnelian is a variety of chalcedony that can be found in a variety of red to orange shades and wavy or “bubbly” patterns. It has been a part of human history and ancient cultures such as Egyptians, Mesopotamian warriors, and even the Greeks and Romans. Carnelian might be worn to enhance passion and confidence, protect one’s energy, and promote success and self-worth.
One of the most popular ways to work with carnelian is having it on your person or in a bag daily, but you can also place it on your desk or by the entryway to your home to attract productivity and success.
Three: Sunstone
This third crystal has been especially important to The Spiritual Sunflower’s creative journey, and that is sunstone. A type of feldspar and silicate, sunstone’s uses originate as magical talismans, and in the decoration of goblets and plates. It has always been believed to be magical, harnessing the power of the sun, and also deeply connected to “God” energy.
Primarily a soft orange and white color, sunstone can also sometimes be partially translucent and feature bright flashes of sparkly gold. It can occasionally be found in vibrant orange, red, and even dark orange (almost black) shades.
Sunstone is known for its qualities of positivity, leadership, fearlessness, good fortune, and abundance. It makes an amazing support crystal for unlocking your true potential, attracting unexpected prosperity, and welcoming extra optimism and enthusiasm into your life.
Creatives, such as myself, enjoy working with sunstone due to its incredibly bright positive energy and assisting in removing inhibitions and doubts. Wearing sunstone daily is known to increase self-worth and attract more opportunities for success. You can also work with sunstone in crystal grids or other rituals. And yes, it is cleansed and charged by placing it into the sunshine!
Four: Ametrine
A fairly newly sought after but absolutely stunning stone, ametrine embodies the energy of both citrine and amethyst. It is a natural combination of the quartz varieties and can only be found in Bolivia, Brazil, and India. Due to its rarity, it can also be a bit more pricey. Nonetheless, creatives are often attracted to ametrine for its properties of gentle spiritual awakening, attracting fortunate circumstances, and promoting creative solutions.
Ametrine has a way of helping people break old habits, and draws higher energies into daily lives without being overwhelming about it. It supports intuition and a balanced physical and spiritual energetic field. Ametrine is also known to enhance all intellectual pursuits and often worked with to remove energy blocks.
One of the best ways to work with ametrine is by making it the center point of a crystal grid, surrounding it with four pieces of citrine and amethyst. To the east and west of the ametrine, place citrine. To the north and south of the ametrine, place amethyst. This will charge and attract ametrine’s energy into your home and your life.
Five: Morganite
Our fifth and final crystal in the crystals for creativity series is morganite. A gentle stone, sought after for its connection to divine energy and the universe, also helpful for releasing burdens and supporting emotional healing. Morganite is often associated with the heart chakra, and many creations come from the heart. This means that working with heart chakra stones such as morganite, rose quartz, rhodonite, pink tourmaline, and so on can be beneficial for artists and visionaries.
Morganite in particular supports creatives in releasing whatever emotional burdens that are holding them back and allowing them to be released through the act of creating. It is a great stone for overall emotional support, leading life with love, and most of all – loving yourself and this creative journey that you are on.
A type of beryl, morganite is often a light pink, peach or purple color variety and found in Brazil, Madagascar, Africa, and the USA. Morganite is aligned with the frequency of love, and when worn over daily over time it can help the wearer feel more confident and empowered due to this divine energetic connection.
You can also meditate with morganite by holding it over your heart center, imagining yourself breathing in the energy of “divine love,” and exhaling your own love back out into the world. Morganite helps connect us with the vast amount of love both within and around us, which is a beautiful space to create from.
These are just a few potential crystals to support your creative journey, but a few of my personal favorites. One of the beautiful things about crystals is there is one to support us in every area of our lives, and some are helpful in multiple ways! Hopefully this post gave you one or two new ones to try, or even new ways to implement them into your creative life. Building a safe and sacred space to create from, and having crystals alongside to support that journey, is a very special part of this lifetime.
Remember, you don’t need to be fancy with your rituals and crystal routines. Having crystals close by in your daily life, visiting with them and thanking them for their support, and cleansing and charging their energy every so often is more than enough. It’s all about the passion and intention with which we show up in our lives really. The crystals are a wonderful extra support system to empower us to do so.
Thank you for joining me in celebrating the power of creativity within all of us, and honoring the magical power of crystals and how they can support us in our creative lives.
